RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. The sum of five dollars, paid to the Secretary or Treasurer as a membership fee, will constitute the person paying the same, a member of the Society for the current year. Competition for any of the prizes offered is open only to members of the Middleville Agricultural Society. 2. Owners of the purebred animals exhibited will be required to furnish the Secretary with a copy of the registered pedigree of such animal, or a declaration made before the Justice of the Peace or other Officer authorized to make Affidavits, that such animal is purebred and which shall state the name and number of both sire and dame before receiving tickets for same. This rule to be strictly enforced. 3. All livestock, including poultry, must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor, except purebred stock, for which transfer certificates must be produced before prize money is paid. All other exhibits are to be owned for a period of three months. 4. No person will be allowed to enter for competition more than one specimen in any section of a class (this rule does not apply to animals or heritage, but to all other classes). 5. All livestock or other articles to be competed for to be the bonafide property of the exhibitor, and any exhibitor who shall attempt to defraud the Society in this or any other particulars, shall forfeit all other prizes accruing to him or her. All bags and other articles are to be without any mark. 6. All grain and produce must be grown by the Exhibitor in the current year of the fair. 7. All exhibitors of cattle and sheep will be required to bring these animals into the ring to be judged. 8. All animals must be securely fastened. 9. All articles in the Exhibit Hall Classes and Senior Citizens’ Classes must be manufactured by the exhibitor. 10. Judges shall withhold a prize if they consider the article undeserving of one. 11. Any person who shall attempt to interfere with any of the Judges while in discharge of their duties, or who shall afterwards on the premises of the Society, use any contemptuous or abusive language to any Judge, shall forfeit his/ her right to any premiums to which he/ she might be otherwise entitled and Judges are requested to report any such interference. 12. All poultry and livestock must be placed on the grounds by 10:00 a.m. Judging of Light Horses begins at 10:00 a.m. Other livestock begins at 11:00 a.m.. Heavy Horse judging begins at 11:00 a.m.. All goods for exhibition in the hall must be in on the evening preceding the Fair and the hall will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for this purpose. No article is to be lifted or sold before 4:30 p.m. Fair day. Any article remaining after 5:00 p.m. will be placed in the fair office at the owner’s risk. 13. When making settlement, 15 percent of all awards will be retained by the Society with a minimum of $5 (see page 8) for the membership fee for the following year. The Society reserves the right to refuse any entry. 14. No person shall be allowed to sell or dispose of any fruits, foods, wares or merchandise on the Society’s grounds, or within three hundred yards thereof without having obtained the consent of the Officers of the Society, nor shall any gambling or game of chance be allowed on the Society’s grounds or within a half mile thereof. 15. While the Directors will take every possible precaution under the circumstances to assure the safety of the articles sent to the Fair, they wish to be distinctly understood that the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting them, and should any article be accidentally injured, lost or stolen, the Directors will give all assistance in their power towards the recovery of the same, but will not make any payment for the value thereof. 16. If the receipts of the year are insufficient to meet the prize list in full, the prizes will be paid pro rata as the funds permit. 17. The Middleville Agricultural Society will not be held responsible for any accidents occurring to its patrons on the fairgrounds during the Fair or at any other time. 18. All cheques for prize money must be cashed before December 31 of the current year. Otherwise, the money will be retained by the Society. 19. Should any dispute or question arise not provided for in the Rules and Regulations, the decision of the Board of Directors shall be final. 20. All exhibitors of livestock, including poultry, must provide an insurance certificate showing the M.A.S. as an additional insured and proof of liability insurance. 21. CHECK EXPIRY DATE ON ALL VOUCHERS/GIFT CERTIFICATES WON, VOUCHERS/GIFT CERTIFICATES HAVE NO CASH VALUE |
