CLASS 32 - QUILTING

2012 THEME - “PRESERVING THE HARVEST”
INSTRUCTIONS
All articles must be the work of the exhibitor and not previously shown at the Middleville Fair
Only new and up-to-date articles will be considered for judging
SMA - sample material attached
SBA - sample batting attached

HAND QUILTING

The “Best Quilt of Fair” will be chosen from Sections 1 - 3, all of which are required to be minimum double in size (72” x 90”) and the complete quilt must be the work of only one individual to qualify.  The winning quilt will be awarded a Rosette and Plaque and will be entered in the District O.A.A.S. Competition.  The 1st place winner at District Level will then proceed to the O.A.A.S. Provincial Level competition.  If you wish your quilt to be considered for this award it MUST have an entry tag for “Best Quilt” in addition to the regular Class entry tag.

1.   Quilt, pieced, pattern named , min. 72” x 90” (324” perimeter)      (SMA, SBA)
2.   Quilt, any other technique, min. 72” x 90” (324” perimeter)       (SMA, SBA)
3.   Single bed quilt, any technique  (SMA, SBA)
4. My first quilt - made by beginning quilter   (SMA, SBA)
5.   Crib quilt, 200” or less perimeter (SMA, SBA)
6.   Article of hand quilted clothing    (SMA, SBA)
7.   Quilted bag - tote, purse, shopping, shoe, etc.  (SMA, SBA)
8.   Lap quilt, perimeter of more than 200” but less than 300”
  (Ex. 50” X 60” = 220”)   (SMA, SBA)
9.   Wall quilt - not to exceed 200” perimeter - must have sleeve to
hang - designed by the exhibitor - judged on innovative design,
unusual use of material and/or stitches, piecing, embellishments
as well as the quilting and finishing.
10. Any quilted article not listed above.


MACHINE QUILTING

The “Champion Machine Quilt/Wall Hanging” will be chosen from
Section 11.  The new required PERIMETER measurement of the
quilt/wall hanging is minimum 192” (480cm). The quilt/wall hanging
may be square, rectangular, etc.  The complete quilt/wall hanging must
be the work of only one individual to qualify and must NOT be quilted
using a long arm machine.  The winning quilt/wall hanging will be entered
in the District O.A.A.S. Machine-Quilting/Wall Hanging Championship
Competition.  The 1st place winner at District Level will then proceed to the
O.A.A.S. Provincial Level competition.  If you wish your quilt/wall hanging
to be considered for this award it MUST have an entry tag for
“Champion Machine Quilt/Wall Hanging” in addition to the regular
Class entry tag.

11.   Quilt/Wall Hanging, any technique, minimum perimeter 192”
    (SBA, SMA)
